Three new Autism Hubs across Sefton are looking for volunteers and are holding a volunteering open day on Wednesday 24th May.

The Hubs, located in Southport, Waterloo and Bootle, offer adults with Asperger’s or high-functioning autism the chance to socialise, gain new skills and access support around a variety of issues.

Volunteers are needed to Meet and Greet at the Hubs, providing a friendly welcome to those attending. The role can also involve helping members to take part in activities, offering motivation and encouragement.

As a Hub Volunteer you will support members to access a range of opportunities, developing their confidence and helping them to become more independent and included in their community.

Volunteers can make a huge difference in improving the lives of people with autism, who often face massive barriers in being included in their local communities.

Volunteers are needed to support the Hubs on the following days

  • Waterloo, at Sefton Carers’ Centre – Wednesday
  • Southport, the Atkinson – Thursday
  • Bootle, the Cedars – Friday

Members attending the Hubs will be able to access a wide range of taster sessions, which volunteers will assist them to participate in. Examples of theses sessions include:

  • Employability
  • Healthy lifestyles
  • Film making & media
  • Opportunities and interests.

The Hub activities will take place during the day, and how long a volunteer attends will depend on their availability. All volunteers would receive training around their role and Autism awareness.
