Southport District Scouts are currently looking to fill two strategic voluntary positions.
Southport District covers Ainsdale through to Crossens, and Southport District Scouts provides a programme of activities and learning experiences for over 200 young people across the area. Of course, these activities can only be delivered with the support of adult volunteers in a variety of roles.
The Scout Section involves 10-14 year olds and there are 11 troops across Southport. The Assistant District Commissioner will be responsible for supporting the continued development of Scouting within the Southport District. This will involve working in partnership with Scout Section Leaders and representing Scout section at regional forums. The Assistant Commissioner will also work with managers to find solutions to problems that may arise within the area.
The role description for the Assistant District Commissioner can be found here.
The Explorer Section is aimed at 14-18 year olds. The District Explorer Scout Commissioner supports and managers the adult volunteers who run the Explorer Section. The role will involve ensuring that a quality programme is being delivered for the Explorer Section throughout the District.
This is a challenging but rewarding role, and the role description can be found here.
Both roles are open to volunteers who are at least 18 year of age, and will require the volunteers to undergo a DBS check. To carry out the role, you will need to have a good understanding of IT and have access to a PC with internet and email.
Candidates for the role do not have to existing members of the Scout Association.
The deadline for both roles is Friday 16th March 2018, and applications can be made by completing and returning a role nomination form, which can be downloaded here.
