Are you passionate about birds, wildlife and conservation?
Do you have experience in managing and motivating people?
Do you enjoy working as part of a team?
Then you may be interested in becoming the RSPB Southport Local Group’s Leader.
While the RSPB is a national charity dedicated to the protection of birds and their habitats, RSPB local groups are community-based teams run entirely by volunteers.
The local groups promote the aims and objectives of the RSPB in their local communities. They offer RSPB members and the public the opportunity to become involved in, learn about and assist the organisation in its work to save nature. They run events and activities like indoor talks and outdoor walks/wildlife watching trips. They also fundraise and campaign for the RSPB and attend local community events to further enthuse and inspire people to support the RSPB.
The RSPB Southport Local Group are looking for a new volunteer leader, someone with well-honed people management skills, who is friendly and approachable and who is keen to help the group to develop. The role doesn’t need any specialist knowledge of birds or wildlife – people skills are much more important.
Being the group is not about doing everything yourself. The right volunteer will have sound delegation and organisational skills.
The group meets once a month, on a Friday evening, at Lord Street West United Church Hall, Lord Street West, Southport, PR8 2BH.
If you would like more information on the role, please contact Ian Wright, Membership & Recruitment Secretary, by emailing SouthportRSPB@btinternet.com
