Local older people’s charity Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton are looking for telephone befrienders.
Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton are looking for new Telephone Befriending volunteers to support older, isolated people across Sefton. The role involves volunteering from the comfort of your own home, calling an older person on a regular basis for a friendly chat and a catch up.
If you are a good listener, enjoy talking to new people and have an hour or two to spare a week then this role is for you. Age Concern’s Befriending service assists anyone over 50 who has become isolated or lonely, particularly important during the covid-19 outbreak.
Volunteers call clients for regular chats and, where possible, they will be matched based on mutual interests and hobbies to ensure a lasting friendship. The role is also very flexible, and you can volunteer on any day of the week, depending on your availability and that of the client.
Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton offer training and support, provided remotely via phone or online at this time, throughout your volunteerig with them.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of old and will need an enhanced DBS check, which Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton will arrange at no cost to the volunteer.
The service provides vital contact for its clients, who otherwise might not speak to another person for days or weeks on end.
