Hospice Care Week is taking place from 5th to 11th October this year, and is an aopportunity to shine a light on the incredible work that takes place in hospices across the UK.
As part of Hospice Care Week we wanted to raise awareness of some of the volunteer vacancies that local hospices are promoting at the moment.
Today it’s the turn of St Joseph’s Hospice in Thornton.
Hospice Reception Volunteers Needed
4 hour shifts, Monday to Sunday 8am-8pm

St Joseph’s Hospice is looking to recruit 20 reception volunteers to support its new seven day a week reception at the hospice in Thornton and has chosen Hospice Care Week (5th -11th October) to launch these important new volunteering roles.
Helen Pattie, Volunteer Recruitment Co-ordinator, said, “At St Joseph’s Hospice we want to expand our current reception area so that we can provide cover seven days a week, in just four hour shifts. Our new plans will mean that we have a welcoming face to greet families, visitors and callers everyday between 8am and 8pm
“This new model will help us to build on the amazing support already offered by our existing small team of reception volunteers so that we can provide the same friendly level of service 12 hours a day, every day of the week! ”
