During Trustees’ Week 2020, we are promoting a number of local charities which are looking to recruit new trustees.
Parenting 2000 is a charity established in 1994 by a group of parents. Based in Sefton they run a range of services that provide emotional and practical support, information and guidance targeted at vulnerable children, young people and families in our borough. They also run Youth Services under their Alchemy brand from buildings in Southport and Crosby.
The charity is seeking to recruit a number of people to strengthen their Board of Trustees/Directors. The Board of Trustees are responsible for setting the strategy and policies of Parenting 2000 and guides and supports the Chief Executive and her staff, which involves meeting every two months currently on Zoom.
One specific trustee role that they are looking to fill is that of Treasurer. The role of Treasurer is to help oversee the financial work of the charity, not to be involved in the day to day running of the Finances. This would suit someone who has the senior experience of Financial Controls – ie an Accountant or similar. Preferably they would like someone with an understanding of Charity finance, but this is not essential.
Parenting 2000 is also looking for other trustees and would particularly welcome people with the following skills:
Business: Parenting 2000 would benefit from having someone with entrepreneurial skills as the charity looks to develop thei income streams.
Education: Someone with a background in Education, from Primary through to FE who would assist with the development of the charity’s support services for families.
Public Health: Parenting 2000 are keen to develop their work around Public Health – they have previously led work with Parents/Carers and Young People around Sexual Health and Drug Awareness and would wish to enhance this area of work.
Environment: The charity is committed to tackling Climate Change and are developing a range of initiatives with our young people to inspire their peers and to promote best practice in the community.
Trustee roles are voluntary and unpaid but out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed,
If you are interested in joining the charity’s board please send a CV and covering letter addressed to Janine Hyland, the CEO of Parenting 2000. This can be emailed to email@example.com
Similarly, if you are interested in role but would like to discuss it further, contact Janine on the above email address.
