TRUSTEES’ WEEK: AINSDALE LUNCH & LEISURE

During Trustees’ Week 2020, we are promoting a number of local charities which are looking to recruit new trustees.

Our latest charity looking for trustees is Ainsdale Lunch & Leisure, a charity based in the heart of Ainsdale which provides a range of activities to help reduce loneliness and social isolation amongst its older population. As its name suggests, the charity provides regular lunch clubs, including home deliveries, alongside other activites such as dance sessions, chair based exercises, art groups and indoor sports such as bowls and table tennis.

Aindale Lnch & Leisure are looking to recruit two new trustees to help steer the the charity

The role of a trustee involves upholding the aims and objectives of the charity, that of addressing isolation and loneliness in the community. Trustees will also promote these aims and the ethos of the charity amongst contacts at every opportunity. They will also support the staff and volunteers by the sharing of knowledge, skills and practical support. Their primary role as trustees is to participate in trustee meetings, as part of an extended team, to ensure that the operations of the charity are delivered.  

Some trustees may take on respobsibility for managing members of staff, and this would involve receiveing daily update emails and offer support when necessary. Those trustees would also assist in carrying out staff appraisals
Ainsdale Lunch & Leisure are looking to enhance their Board by recruiting new trustees with experience and/or knowledge of :
Health and Social Care
Public Service
Mental Health Practice
Finance.
Trustee Business meetings are held quarterly, during the day, for approximately 2.5 hours. Where necessary, if a trustee takes part in subgroups such Finance or Steering Committee, additional meetings if on subgroups for example finance or Steering committee, there would be additional quarterly meetings.
Trustees will also receive Induction and the opportunity to attend training meetingsm for example food hygiene & health and safety training which take place annually. FInally, all trustees would be requires to attend the organisation’s Annual General Meeting.
