Would you like the chance to support another woman in the local community to increase their confidence and independence whilst reducing isolation and loneliness?
SWAN Women’s Centre are looking for women over 18 years old to offer 1-2 hours/week for a minimum of 12 months to be a volunteer befriender.
They are looking for someone who has empathy, excellent communication skills, commitment and passion for helping others. In return, you get free training and supervision, out of pocket expenses and the chance to build a relationship with a woman in need. A voluntary, mutually beneficial & purposeful relationship in which an individual gives time to support another to enable them to make changes in their life.
SWAN Women’s Centre were established in July 1989 provided information and advice to women on health issues. Since then, they have grown in line with the needs of the women that they serve locally.
They work with women and girls aged 13+ years, who are affected by or experience anxiety, depression, stress, isolation or other mental health issues. Their volunteers are at the heart of the delivery of their services and without them, they could not provide the range of services that they do.
