Trustees and Volunteers Sought by Sefton Advocacy

Sefton Advocacy offer a free, independent and confidential advocacy service to people aged 18 and over and living in the borough of Sefton. They work to ensure that their service users are supported appropriately to enable them to participate in decisions that affect their lives, giving them choice and control over their own lifves.

They are currently recruiting volunteers to fill two roles within the organisation:

TRUSTEES

Trustee volunteers play a huge role behind the scenes of Sefton Advocacy. These volunteers work together as the Board of Trustees to review how Sefton Advocacy is opererating and make key decisions to ensure its coninued growth and success.

Trustees are involved in the day-to-day operations of the charity, but attend regular trustee meetings. Their responsibilities may include working closely with Sefton Advocacy’s managment team, reviewinng the charity’s finances and representing the charity at extrnal meetings and events.

ADVOCACY VOLUNTEERS

Advocacy volunteers are vital to delivering the charity’s services. Essentially they speak up on the behalf of others.

This might involve helping people gain access to council and health services, access to the equipment they need, supporting people with consumer affairs, and more. The process might include liaising with clients in person or over the phone, researching information, making phone call or writing letters, and more to ensure that the service user’s voice is heard.

Advocacy volunteers operate across Sefton, and are fully trained by Sefton Advocacy. They receive support and supervision from the charity’s Volunteer Coordinator and volunteering hours, while flexible, take place Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
