Sefton CVS Ukraine Support Initiative

Volunteer Centre Sefton together with Sefton CVS have launched the Ukraine Support Initiative. This two-point project is designed to help Ukrainians living in Sefton to feel more connected to the borough through the use of digital devices and volunteer placements enabling them to improve their health and wellbeing, gain UK work experience, UK references, English language and employability skills to move towards work readiness.

Volunteering Support

Volunteer Centre Sefton have organised a pilot volunteer placement programme for Ukrainian guests who are currently living in Sefton. Together with other VCF sector organisations, Ukrainian guests will be matched to voluntary roles appropriate to their interests and skillset.

Volunteering is an ideal way to improve mental and physical health, make new friends and give back to the Sefton community. There are many charitable groups and organisations in the area that need support.

This project is ideal for those who are looking to meet new people, develop new skills, struggling to find work, need to improve their technical English language skills or are unable to work at the moment (due to caring commitments etc) but would like to keep their skills up.

If you are a Ukrainian living in Sefton, and would like to secure a volunteer placement or an organisation that would like to offer a placement, please email info@volunteeringsefton.org.uk.

Digital Inclusion

The project also has a number of free digital devices available to distribute to Ukrainian guests who do not have access to technology. The devices can be used for contacting friends/ family, access online translation services, education apps, shopping and accessing essential services such as Universal Credit, NHS and housing support.

If you are a Ukrainian guest or organisation interested in receiving digital devices or would like more information please email ukraineonline@seftoncvs.org.uk
