Volunteering with people with disabilities

Volunteering with people who have disabilities can be a rewarding way to spend your time and create a more inclusive environment. There are several organisations and groups across Sefton that help people with disabilities.

What experience do you need to volunteer with people with disabilities?

You don’t need to have experience, but being friendly, caring and enjoying meeting new people is a must. You must be non-judgemental and empathetic.

You also may need to have a DBS check (a criminal record check). This is something the organisation you are looking to volunteer with will do for you. It therefore may be a few weeks before you can start volunteering
