This Trustees’ Week, we will be celebrating the invaluable difference trustees make in Sefton. Taking place from 4th-8th November, the week highlights the dedication of people who volunteer their time, skills and experience to help guide charities in achieving their goals. Trustees play a vital role in decision-making, strategy, and governance, providing a steady hand that ensures charities can effectively deliver on their missions.
To celebrate Trustees’ Week, we talked to Oliver Spence, a young trustee from Jacob Billington Trust. Oliver shares insights into what it’s like to be a young trustee, his motivations and the satisfaction he gets from the role.
Jacob Billington Trust was founded in 2022 by some of his best friends and his sister after sadly losing Jacob in 2020. Their aim is to raise funds for the benefit of young people in the Sefton area; specifically, to assist funding for young people’s music education, creating a legacy for Jacob, who was himself a talented musician.
Jacob Billington Trust provide discounted music tuition and rehearsal space as well as opportunities for young people to showcase their musical talent and much more. The Trustees’ work hard to meet the charities’ mission to ensure that every young person has the chance to pursue their creative arts passion, regardless of their background or socio-economic status.
If Oliver’s story has inspired you, why not explore becoming a trustee yourself?.
