Each year, communities across the country come together for the Great British Spring Clean, a nationwide campaign that encourages people to roll up their sleeves and help tackle litter in the places they live, work and visit. From neighbourhood streets to countryside paths, the campaign highlights the difference local people can make when they take pride in their surroundings and work together to protect the environment.
In Sefton, the impact of community action is especially important. The borough is home to 22 miles of coastline, along with beautiful parks, open spaces and bustling high streets that are used and enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Keeping these areas clean helps protect local wildlife, supports tourism and ensures that Sefton remains a welcoming place for everyone.
During the Great British Spring Clean, volunteers of all ages take part in organised litter picks across the borough, helping to keep beaches, green spaces and neighbourhoods looking their best. Whether you join a local group or simply pick up litter while out for a walk, every small action contributes to a cleaner environment.
Cllr Peter Harvey, Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Street Scene, said the campaign shows how communities can make a real difference.
“The Great British Spring Clean is a chance for our whole community to come together, take pride in our borough and make a visible difference to the places we all love.”
