Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which celebrates the work of volunteers in our communities. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic we are continuing to recognise the importance of volunteers and their valuable support in our local communities.
This year, while lockdown restrictions continue, we will be Celebrating on Social Media the amazing response from across the borough.
#VolunteersWeek and #NeverMoreNeeded are the two National social media campaigns publicly highlighting the impact, recognition and gratitude of the voluntary sector and its volunteers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Locally, within Sefton, you can get involved by using the hashtags #SeftonVolunteers & #MySefton. Find out more about how you or your organisation can get involved this week!
#CheersForVolunteers – Recognising Volunteers
Joining voluntary sector groups across England, we will be collating and sharing a number of #CheersForVolunteers videos from with staff, stakeholders and beneficiaries. The aim, to create a video ‘chain of cheers’ with everyone raising a glass, mug or champagne flute if you really want to go all out, in thanks to all the hard work of volunteers, especially in recent times and we want you to get involved too! Meet Kevin, a prescription service volunteer. For Volunteers Week 2020 he gives us insight into his role and how he has been helping efforts in the boroughs response to COVID-19. The Sefton Prescription Service is part of the wider COVID-19 Volunteer Response programme and is managed by Sefton CVS & Healthwatch Sefton.

Volunteer Certificate Scheme
Each year, Sefton CVS and Volunteer Centre Sefton work in partnership with Sefton Council and the Mayor of Sefton’s Office to issue volunteer certificates to residents who volunteer with a wide range of local VCF sector groups.
This year, Volunteer Centre Sefton will be continuing to issue certificates to those groups who have recorded volunteer hours – and these can be issued electronically or where requested we can arrange for hard copies to be distributed to our local groups and organisations.
Received a certificate? Share photos and videos with us using the #SeftonVolunteers hashtag on social media wherever possible.
