Community Spirit Shines at Volunteer Taster Sessions in Bootle

Volunteer Centre Sefton ran two successful Volunteer Taster Sessions this September, one in Rimrose Valley Country Park and another in North Park, Bootle.

In Rimrose Valley, eight people took part, including staff from the Health and Safety Executive, commercial property company, Bruntwood and from Sefton CVS. Also, a local resident who was giving volunteering a try for the first time joined. The group worked together to litter pick along the paths, helping to keep the park looking its best. They also supported Rimrose Valley Friends by clearing invasive brambles at the Beach Road entrance.

At North Park in Bootle, seven volunteers got involved, including two from Balfour Beatty and three from local charity, The Indy. Volunteers spread out across the park with litter pickers, with some focusing on the skate park while others cleared other parts of the park. North Park is home to The Gateway Collective, a social enterprise tackling loneliness and isolation through community building and support. When our sessions are not running, volunteers at The Gateway Collective continue to work hard to keep the park well maintained for local people.

These sessions were a great opportunity for people to try out volunteering while making a real difference to their local green spaces.
