Do beach cleans make a difference?
According to Surfers against Sewerage they do. They have emerging evidence that cleaning away larger pieces of plastic helps to reduce the amount of micro plastics in the environment. Here is what they said on the subject.
“If we can remove large plastic items, we can stop wave action and sunlight from breaking it down into microplastics. This can, has been shown to have significant affects on local microplastic concentrations.”
