Sefton Celebrates Three Winners of the King’s Award for Voluntary Service

Sefton is celebrating after Ainsdale in Bloom, Bootle Action Group CIC, and Sea Cadets Sefton were all honoured with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in November 2025 — the highest national recognition given to volunteer groups in the UK.

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is often described as the “MBE for volunteer groups.” It recognises outstanding work done by volunteers that makes a significant, positive impact on local communities. Groups that receive the award are judged to be exceptional examples of volunteering in action and are selected through an independent, county-wide process before being approved by the King.

Ainsdale in Bloom earned the award for its long-standing work transforming public spaces and creating vibrant community gardens that bring residents together.

Bootle Action Group CIC was recognised for its hands-on efforts to revitalise neighbourhoods, improve local environments, and strengthen pride across Bootle.

Sea Cadets Sefton (TS Starling Unit) received the honour for providing life-changing opportunities to young people through maritime training, mentoring, and dedicated volunteer support.

This prestigious recognition places all three groups among the UK’s most respected voluntary organisations and highlights the strength of community spirit across Sefton.
